This course is being updated for students starting in September 2021 to align with the Revised Standard Version as it is the practice for midwifery sciences all over the world.  Midwives are the main providers of care for the majority of childbearing women and their families throughout pregnancy, labour and the first few weeks after the birth. Midwives assess the wellbeing and needs of the mother and her family, provide information on a wide range of issues, work with women to plan and provide their care, promote the health of the family, teach skills for labour and parenthood and support women and their partners throughout the childbearing process. Midwives work with a range of other professionals and refer women to others as needed. Our Midwifery (B.Sc.M) course will develop you into a highly employable, first-class midwife.

During your course at UACI you will follow a woman-centred approach to midwifery care thanks to a curriculum that has been highly commended by the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene in Cote D’Ivoire.

Our course also includes themes such as applying bioscience knowledge to practice, tackling health inequalities and evidence-based practice.

Your study time will be divided equally between academic and practice-based learning , enabling you to apply theory to work. You will learn from some of the country’s leading midwifery lecturers, researchers and clinicians, as well as experts from across the Universities in Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Tunisia and Sierra –Leone.
